Update:
I went to the Purdue Veterinary School this afternoon to have my vision tested.  Unfortunately after extensive testing, it was determined that I wasn't a candidate for cataract surgery on either eye.  I have retinal detachment in my right eye and optic nerve hypoplasia in my left eye.  Notwithstanding the above, I get along very well in my foster home and would make someone a wonderful companion.

My name is Randy. I am a miniature Poodle.  I weigh approximately 13.5 pounds and am approximately 5 years old.   I was turned over to animal control because my family no longer wanted me once I lost my eyesight.  They simply did not understand how fast blind dogs learn to adapt to their surroundings and especially so when they’re as smart as I am.  In one day I learned to go from one end of my new foster home to the other end without much trouble at all and also how to go to the kitchen door to go, into the garage, and out the doggie door when my mom says potty time.

I recently saw a doggie ophthalmologist and she believes that my vision can possibly be restored to one of my eyes with the removal of a cataract.  I am scheduled to go to the Purdue Small Animal Hospital in West Lafayette later this month for further testing.  

I am not very active but my mom thinks it has to do with my being in a new home and my lack of eye sight.  I am a very nice little dog and I love to sit in my mom’s lap and give her doggie kisses.  If you have room in your heart and home for a very smart, friendly, and loveable little guy, please drop me a line.

Randy’s adoption fee is $150. All our furbabies are fully vetted including, but not limited to, spay/neutering and vaccinations, before they are adopted. These fees help to cover our costs.
