Scruffy
Scruffy

Dear ladies, I LOVE SCRUFFY SO MUCH! And she’s starting to love me back. You all were so right about this wonderful, little bundle of fur. What a blessing! She’s slowly settling in at her new & forever home. The first day or two she ate nor drank virtually nothing at all and I was getting a little concerned. However, she’s eating better now. She had a full bowl of food & full bowl of water when I went to work yesterday morning. When I got home yester- day afternoon, both bowls were empty. Imagine that! Next, going to the bathroom…three times Friday I took her out to go to the bathroom, nothing. Guess who wakes me up at 1:30 in the morning to go out? Yep. First time she tinkled. We went in and back to sleep. Fifteen minutes late, "woof”, “woof”, “grrrr”, “woof”! She was relentless.. So, out we go again, and she pooped! It was my fault that we had to go out a 2nd time. I thought she was done the first time and rushed her back in. I’ve found that she likes to take her time in the yard (probably just getting used to that too). What a good little girl. She’s already falling into a pattern. She’s going in the morning (#’s 1 & 2) before I leave for work & then again after dinner in the evening. No more middle of the night strolls, hopefully. Like you said, she likes to nap in your lap, oh boy, does she ever! She is just so ‘at home’ laying in my lap while I watch television from my lazy-boy recliner. However, she doesn’t seem to care to be on my couch though, or so I thought, read on… It is quite apparent that the old gal has some minor hind quarter issues sitting down & getting up, jumping up or down, etc., but not walking nor running, which she can do quite well when she’s up to the challenge, so-to-speak. I also took notice (as you all described) that she cannot get up nor down on furniture without assistance. I have been helping her up & down whenever or wherever necessary. She’s a little plumper alright, not unlike her ‘daddy’. That’s ok though, when weather permits, we’ve already started taking daily walks & I’m sure we’ll both lose some unwanted pounds. Now, for the kicker. Against your advice, I let her have the run of the house while I was at work. I thought to keep her penned in the kitchen would probably be stressful to her. After all, it is her home now too and I believe she will be ok anywhere here even when I’m at work. Well, when I got home yesterday and opened my front door, no Scruffy to greet me, I called to her & still no Scruffy. Well, lo & behold, there she is, all excited to see me, from my couch! She evidently crawled or most likely jumped up there sometime during the day! However, she couldn’t get down. I have no idea how long she’d been up there, but seemed no worse for wear. She probably was snoozing up there all afternoon and hadn’t wanted to get down until I got home. So, this morning, before I left for work, I took all the cushions and pulled them up in a diagonal fashion so she (hopefully) can’t get back up there again. Understand, I don’t mind her being up there, I just don’t want her up there when I’m not around. I wouldn’t want her to possibly injure herself when trying to get/jump down. I don’t know if I ever told anyone how I came across Scruffy. I’d been looking online @ ‘petfinder.com’ on & off for the last year or so. One day I accidently came across Scruffy’s picture during one of my searches and I just moved on from there. That was at least 2-3 weeks before I first made contact. Something just kept drawing me back to her picture & her story of sadness, hope & life. That’s when I realized that this was meant to be. Call it luck, fate, a higher power, the hand of God, whatever you like, I firmly believe that was meant to be. Thank you all so very much & God bless you all. Gratefully, Bob & Scruffy P.S. I promise, we’ll take a ride & visit you all at the Petsmart in Schererville (on the 3rd Sunday of the month) in the not too distant future.

Button

Hope all is well with you... I'm sure you're keeping quite busy still. I wanted to send you some updated photos of our little Clover (was your little Button). She's doing GRRrrreat! We, and all our family members, enjoy her so much! Tyler takes her on a mile walk a day and they LOVE frisbee! She loves playing with me when I get home from work and before I leave...with ALL of her many toys! She's super at night and sleeps thru the whole night in her pretty bed, that's right beside our bed (when Tyler leaves for work she jumps into bed with me... but we'll keep that our little secret). Anyway, I was just thinking about you and knew you'd LOVE an update. We're so thankful we found her!

Biscuit
Biscuit

Just wanted to give you an update on Biscuit. He is doing remarkably well. We are getting to know his habits, so the housebreaking process is going better than expected so far. He has become very attached to each member of the family and has shown some protective/watchdog tendencies in the last few days. He is such a loving and cuddly dog that it has been very easy for our entire family to quickly fall in love with him. Thank you so much for allowing us to make him part of our family, and fill the void that was missing since we lost our last dog. We truly feel that we have been blessed. Our best to you, Gayle

Precious
Precious

Precious is doing good, still chases the cats, they remind her of squirrels I guess. And loves to bark! She barks at everybody and everything. She is a playful pup, loves to play with her toys and make them squeek! We love her so much and are so thankful to have been able to adopt her. We still get tears for our "Sadie Sue" that we lost. Nice chatting with you, Stay in touch. Lonna

Sassy
Sassy

It has been a few months since I adopted Sassy (now Stella) and I wanted to give you an update of how she is doing. First of all, I would like to thank you for picking me to be the proud dog mom of Stella..she is absolutely the best dog. How anyone could give her up is beyond me but, their loss is my gain! When I first got Stella to the vet I learned that she had a thyroid issue so we got her on meds and since then her hair has grown back and she is a completely different dog. Even though she was shaved down she had a bald spot on her back by her tail and she was losing hair on her tail..I just thought it was from her haircut but, the vet advised that dogs lose their hair in spots and that is the first sign of a thyroid issue..as well as her lethargy..which I thought was just from all of the changes that she underwent in such a short time. Now that she is on her meds and her thyroids are stable..she is a completely different dog. She has so much energy and there is so much life in that little body of hers. She is definitely the boss..she bosses around all the big dogs and is VERY territorial and jealous when it comes to me giving other dogs affection or my time. Everyone LOVES Stella, she is the center of attention everywhere she goes..I truly believe that she is happy and is loving her new life. She is a true blessing to me and everyone that she is around..she is just awesome in everyway and deserves the best life. Best Wishes, Amanda:)
