Bruno
Just wanted to give you an update on Bruno now know as Rocco.
He immediately became a member of the family, and is the perfect lap dog. He likes to follow me around the house, and either lays on my lap, or next to me on the couch. When it's bedtime, he jumps on the bed and sleeps next to me. He's had a couple of accidents, but when I'm not home, he does go on a piddle pad. I've even gotten him to walk a block, and hopefully we will get up to two this week.
The only concern I have had with him is he doesn't like his food. It's obvious his previous owner fed him table scraps. Whenever someone goes to the kitchen or we sit down to dinner, he barks and begs for food. I try to stick with the dog food, but once in a while I give a treat out of the fridge.
I want to thank you again for allowing me to adopt him. I have grown to really love him, and my husband and granddaughters like him too.

Lobo
Just to update you regarding Lobo ....... Debbie took him to our vet today to have the sutures removed
under his chin. The vet said the incision is healing well. Chewing hard food still bothers him a bit, but the vet said his teeth look pretty good. He prescribed an antibiotic in case there might be some slight infection with the gums, as he said it won't hurt just to be sure. The vet was impressed by his low heart rate, and said we may have one of these dogs that lives until 15-16. Sure hope so!
Lobo fits in so well with he other dogs ....... introduced him to the other 3 dogs in the back yard, and the only reason Sandy & Molly barked was because they were so happy to meet Lobo. He has had zero accidents, holds it all day while we are at work, and loves to sleep in the bedroom on his "special blanket" next to our bed at night. He just loves to be petted and given attention. I cannot believe how laid back he is ......... I've told people that if Lobo was any more laid back, he'd be
in a coma!! Debbie said he was so good on the leash and in the car to and from the vet today. I think next weekend I'll take him to my folks in Highland to introduce him. They just love when I bring Sandy over, and they can't wait to meet Lobo.
Received a very nice card from Joyce regarding our adoption of Lobo. She can rest assured that Lobo will be well taken care of and loved the rest of his life. We are really blessed to have the opportunity to provide him a home.
Best wishes to you and the rest of the Safe Haven miracle workers!!

Lexie
Just an update on Lexie. She has been a joy. She is my shadow. She sleeps right next to me. Her potty breaks are doing great. She has not wet anywhere inside at home or work. She has only had 2 poo accidents. One was my fault the second day. I am still trying to figure out when she will go other than first thing in the morning and about 20 minutes after she eats. I am watching her like a 2 year old child. She never gets out of my site until I know her potty habits.
She has two bad habits but I think she will learn to break them in time. She likes garbage cans and she likes to get up on the kitchen table looking for food. I don't mind her on the chairs but I don't want her on the table. The vet said to place tin foil on the chair or table to scare her away.
I took her to my vet today. They will send me a reminder on the rabies. I bought her Heartguard and Frontline. I prefer those because I know they have worked for me for the past 8 years.
Lexie is very sweet and fits into our family just fine. My other dog, Greta, is still a little jealous at times, but she is getting better and it has only been 4 days. Lexie follows me everywhere which I like. We have already bought her a ton of stuff. She really likes the toys we have at home. Greta does not even play with half of them. She is not playing as much anymore because of her age. Lexie, Greta and I have our favorite chair that we sit in together. I am keeping Greta's life exactly the same except for the addition of Lexie. I think Greta will accept Lexie.
I kept the name Lexie because my husband liked it the best. We only see our step grandchild, Lexie, 2 times per year. She is a teenager and does not mind. We talked to them about the name.
Thanks again for all you do for the animal world. Lexie is very special.

Jerry
Just wanted to let you know that 'Mylo' is doing wonderful! We love him so much. He is such the cuddler. I can't believe how much my husband adores him. He loves running in the fresh snow. He runs like a rabbit in it! We have not had any problems with him at all. Took him to Paw Prints here in Lafayette. One of my new clients is a vet there, so now she is Mylo's vet.
Mylo answers positive to our questions by turning in a circle! When we ask if he wants to go out, he'll turn in a circle. He's so cute! He comes to my shop with me most evenings and is always friendly with my customers. Thanks so much for bringing him into our lives.

Snowflake
Snowflake (now named Molly) loves to jump up on a Lazy Boy recliner in the den, curl up in the seat, and take her naps.
She actually jumped up on a large footstool near the front window to look out. She makes it all day
while we're at work without having any accidents. Last Sunday, our other small dog, Sandi, and
Molly were running around the back yard playing and chasing each other.
Within the past week or so, Molly has come over to Debbie's recliner and has let Debbie pick her
up and hold her in the recliner for 10-15 minutes or so while Debbie pets her. She doesn't squirm
to get away, and seems content. She runs to the door to greet Debbie if I'm home first to let her out.
She jumps around the kitchen like a kangaroo when we're getting the dog's food ready. She's
really excited at mealtime ....... she eats her food so fast like she's afraid someone is going to take
it away. We put a small rubber ball in her food bowl to force her to slow down by eating around it.
Molly seems to trust Debbie a bit more than me, even though I'm careful not to raise my voice around
her or make sudden moves. She'll come over to my chair for me to pet her, but she's more timid around
me, possibly due to being abused by a male? She shares a cut up hard boiled egg in the morning
with the other dogs, and eats the pieces from my hand.
She is definitely wagging her tail more as each week goes by, especially around Debbie.
We'll keep you updated ....... Molly is doing really well, but still is really timid at times. We know
this will take a long time for her to really trust us, but she is really making progress .... more progress
than I had expected in the short period of time we've had her. She has really bonded with Debbie,
but I try to work with her, too. I think you would be really proud of her if you saw her. Our goal
is to get her to PetSmart next summer!
We will keep in touch with Molly's progress. Happy New Year to you, your family, and all the
"critters"!
